SKILL VISAS
Many professionals who are in Australia or overseas look for General Skill Migration Scheme (GSM) as an option for a temporary or permanent visa in Australia. To apply for some of these visas you will need to comply with certain requirements as age, level of english, work experience, profession in demand, second language in others. Those skills gives you points and generally you need to comply 120 points, go to http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/general-skilled-migration/pdf/faq-points-test.pdf to see if you could comply with them. You could also look at http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/_pdf/sol-schedule3.pdf to see if your profession is in demand and the points given.
There is a new Point test that will apply to applications lodged on or after 1 July 2011. The pass mark is likely to be 65. And It will apply to the following visa subclasses:
885 - Skilled Independent
886 - Skilled Sponsored
487 - Skilled Regional Sponsored
175 - Skilled Independent (Offshore)
176 - Skilled Sponsored
(Offshore)
475 - Skilled – Regional Sponsored
(Offshore)

If you can not comply with the requirement for a permanent visa or you just want to stay longer in Australia but without studying you may apply for a graduate visa (subclass 485), for this visa you need to comply with an Australian study requirement, english level in others.
People that were on a 485 graduate visa or were on a vocational course or higher education on the 8 February could apply for transitional arrangements. |
